Patent (PCT)

By filing a PCT international application in Japanese with the receiving office (Japanese Patent Office), you can obtain the same effect as filing in all signatory countries of the Patent Cooperation Treaty. If you want to obtain a patent in many countries, this system of internationally unified patent application procedures is effective and economical. Ultimately, you will need to proceed with the procedures individually in each country in which you wish to obtain patent rights, but in principle, transition to each country should be done by the time 30 months have passed from the date of filing the PCT international application, while a grace period is also provided.

Please note that when filing a PCT application,
it will cost approximately 250,000 yen to 500,000 JPY (including charges and stamp fees) at the time of filing, depending on the content of the application.
Additional fees will be charged for post-filing procedures (amendments in the international
phase, requests for preliminary examination, transition procedures to each country, etc).
